LAVENDER HILL HELPS ‘REIMAGINE CAP HILL PARKS’

Denver Parks & Recreation Partners with Lavender Hill Cultural District for Quality Hill Park exhibit about the history of queer Capitol Hill as part of Reimagine Cap Hill Parks project.

Lavender Hill is proud to announce an exciting partnership with Denver Parks and Recreation to bring a vibrant new temporary exhibit to Quality Hill Park in Denver’s Capitol Hill Neighborhood.

This exciting collaboration aims to highlight the rich history of the Denver Queer community’s presence in Cap Hill while promoting storytelling and appreciation for queer culture within our public spaces. This exhibit fits into Denver Parks & Rec’s larger Reimagine Cap Hill Parks visioning project for Quality Hill Park and Governor’s Park.

A Celebration of Diverse Stories

Quality Hill Park, nestled in the heart of Cap Hill, has long been a gathering place for people from many different walks of life and continues to evolve in its identity as a public space. Through this collaboration with Denver Parks and Rec, we aim to amplify queer voices, history, and narratives in a space created by queer people, offering visitors a deeper understanding and appreciation of the contributions of the Queer community to the cultural fabric of our city.

Community Engagement and Empowerment

Central to this partnership is a commitment to community engagement and empowerment. In addition to this exhibit, Denver Parks & Rec will host a series of events and workshops in the parks aimed at fostering dialogue and connection with the community.

Check out the flyer with the list of events below and join us on Saturday, June 1st, 2024 in Quality Hill Park for Quality Hill Park Pride Day from 1-3 pm for the unveiling of the new exhibit!
