50 YEARS OF DENVER PRIDE!

Celebrating 50 Years of Pride in Denver; a truly Mile-High Moment

As the vibrant heart of Denver's Queer community, Lavender Hill is thrilled to participate in the monumental milestone of the 50th annual Denver Pride celebration! This year marks a half-century of resilience, protest, and progress since the inception of Pride in Denver in 1974.

For five decades, Denver Pride has been a source of hope, a show of unity, and a platform for visibility and advocacy. It has served as a vital reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality and acceptance, while also offering an opportunity to celebrate the rich diversity within our community.

As we reflect on the journey that has brought us to this momentous occasion, we honor the trailblazers, activists, and allies who have tirelessly fought for Queer rights in Denver.

This year's Denver Pride is more than just a celebration; it's a testament to the resilience and strength of our community. Despite the challenges we've faced, from the AIDS crisis to the ongoing fight for transgender rights and gender-affirming care, we will continue to stand together, united in our commitment to equality, inclusion, and empowerment.

Throughout the years, Denver Pride has evolved and expanded, welcoming people of all ages, backgrounds, and identities. From the colorful parade down Colfax Avenue to the lively festivities in Civic Center Park, Pride offers a space for everyone to come together, to be seen, and to be proud of who they are.

But Pride is not just a one-time event—it's a year-round commitment to creating a more inclusive and equitable city. The Lavender Hill Cultural District is dedicated to supporting Queer artists, businesses, residents, and organizations, ensuring that our community continues to thrive and grow.

As we come together to celebrate 50 years of Denver Pride, let us also recommit ourselves to the work that lies ahead. Let us continue to fight for the rights of all Queer people, especially those who are most marginalized and vulnerable like people of color and Trans and non-binary folks. Let us celebrate our victories, but never forget the challenges that still lie ahead.

Whether you're a longtime activist or attending your first Pride celebration, we invite you to join us in commemorating and celebrating this historic milestone throughout June. Together, let's honor our past, celebrate our present, and envision a future where every member of Denver’s Queer community can live openly and authentically.
