Lavender Hill Collaborates with Persephone Candleworks and the Colfax Ave BID for 2023’s Bag of Colfax

Here in Lavender Hill, we endeavor to pursue any chance to collaborate with our partners and queer-owned businesses, to give a spotlight to our city’s amazing queer communities and offer platforms and access to opportunities through our networks.

It's no wonder that when the opportunity arose to partner with the Colfax Ave Business Improvement District (BID) for their popular Bag of Colfax initiative for 2023, we leaped at the chance to infuse our community with even more vibrancy and warmth by collaborating with our friends at Persephone Candleworks, a queer, women-owned business based in Castle Rock, Colorado.

The Bag of Colfax project, a beloved annual tradition, aims to showcase the eclectic spirit of Colfax Avenue through unique, locally sourced products bundled into charming tote bags made from previous years’ pole-mounted street banners. Each bag becomes a miniature representation of the rich tapestry of the BID, a tangible expression of the diverse talents and businesses that call Colfax home.

For the 2023 edition, we joined forces with Persephone Candleworks, innovators in the world of local artisanal candles in Denver. Their commitment to quality craftsmanship and environmentally conscious practices aligns perfectly with our values here at Lavender Hill. Together, we set out to create something truly special for this year’s Bag of Colfax, a lavender-scented candle to bring light and love into your home this winter.

Each candle, hand-poured with care and attention to detail, serves as an homage to the magic of Lavender Hill and Colfax Ave and each item in the Bag of Colfax tells a unique story—a story of creativity, of resilience, and of community spirit.
